Dr Dan Jess, Senior Lecturer (Pedagogy & Vocology) To Present at ANATS National Conference 2022

The ANATS National Conference 2022 will be held from 29 September to 2 October 2022 inclusive, in Adelaide. For the first time ever, conference attendees can choose to attend either online or in-person.

Dr Dan Jess, Senior Lecturer of Pedagogy and Vocology at the Australian College of Vocal Arts (ACVA) will present his paper entitled: Vocal Recovery Following Symptomatic COVID-19 Infection: Strategies for Private Singing Teachers.

Paper Abstract (Working)

While vaccination appears to have had positive impacts, symptomatic COVID-19 infection and re-infection rates remain problematically high throughout the world. Affected professional voice users have reported significant vocal mechanism, respiratory, and muscular disturbances, and fatigue that impacts their work. Mitigating recovery time is essential for the professional voice user. The purpose of this narrative literature review is to consolidate current knowledge and advance dialogue on post-COVID-19 vocal recovery, by critically exploring the emerging body of interdisciplinary literature. A series of potential practice-based strategies are extracted and presented from extant literature, and future research perspectives are highlighted.
