Seminar: Using Art Song Repertoire in Musical Theatre Vocal Coaching with Dr Dan Jess

Join us for a FREE presentation by Dr Dan Jess on how to effectively use art song repertoire to coach musical theatre performers at various levels.

Art Songs have been celebrated by professional recitalists for many decades. They regularly feature in the classical singing teacher’s studio. However, as leading singing voice pedagogue Dr Dan Jess will encourage you to explore, specific art songs can confidently be used to teach and empower the voices of contemporary musical theatre performers. This diverse body of repertoire can help facilitate healthy, expressionistic vocal production, storytelling capabilities and proactively enhances technical singing capabilities.

In this free online seminar, we’ll consider:

  • How different art songs can be used as cross-over training resources;

  • An exploration of a range of specific pieces, selected to support specific outcomes for your student performers; and,

  • What technical and other factors need to be considered when working with art songs in a contemporary voice context.

“Art songs are both an exploration and a consolidation tool for musical theatre singing teachers” - Dr Dan Jess.
